The girls got their turn at this article… now it’s time for the parents expecting a little baby boy to shine! If you’re looking for a boy name for your upcoming new addition that feels strong and brave with a wonderful namesake to match, then look no further. Today, I’m taking a look at some influential men that have changed history and the world as we know it, names that will surely bring up thoughts of strength and persistence that mirrors my article from a couple days ago with a similar premise. So, now that you know what we’re taking a peek at today, let’s jump into some boy names with strong namesakes!
Albert- As in Einstein. A German scientist famed for his equation e=mc^2, Albert Einstein paved the way for modern day life as we know it with his revolutionary knowledge and innovations. As for the influential figure’s name, Albert has loads of potential. Arthur is flying, his clunky charm and British overtones wooing many parents both in Europe and beginning to appeal to the masses in American as well. Albert adds that same dose of quirky-retro with a punch of notable namesake and a bevy of sweet nicknames such as Al, Ali, and Bert to list a couple of the most obvious. Add to the sweet namesake and vintage gleam a popularity as tempting as #474 and you have a superstar just waiting to blow up.
Galileo- An astronomer who discovered wildly advanced scientific evidence of Earth not, as was commonly believed, the center of the universe, and was instead one of many systems. Although his scientific discoveries angered many churches who believed the former about the nature of the universe, Galileo was still quite an intelligent figure and a monumental shift in astronomy that has helped us get to our wider point of understanding today. A neat way to get to the all-the-rage short form Leo, this unique moniker remains very tied to it’s previous namesake, and will, no doubt, inspire thoughts of wisdom. Despite Galileo’s very small use, (only 29 baby boys given the name last year), he has a sweet sound and notable namesake that makes choosing him worthwhile.
Martin- Classic with the cheerful and upbeat nickname Marty, Martin Luther King Jr’s influence continues to linger on in his name, a truly traditional and strong baby boy name to choose for a first or middle name if you find Dr. King’s work to be honorable. A civil rights leader famed for his peaceful approach to changing the Jim Crow laws and ending public segregation with speeches and sit-ins, the most remembered being his “I Have a Dream” speech, Martin Luther King Jr. changed the narrative and pushed fairness over discrimination, which has affected so many countless lives to this day. Martin or King could honor this inspirational figure and be an adorable choice for your little son.
Muhammad- Boxing legend Muhammad Ali proved both athletic strength as well as character strength, an activist for civil rights and overall peace. He inspired many with his skill in the ring, adopting the title of “The Greatest,” his confidence and kindness appreciated and idolized by thousands. As for his name, Muhammad is an Arabic boy name that has flourished between many cultures, different spelling variations charting high in Europe and the US. The iconic name of this strong and self-assured champion could surely make both your sports-loving partner or Arabic roots shine.
Abraham- If you live outside of the US, Abraham probably doesn’t have the same strong connotation. However, if you do live in America, Abraham may be the perfect tie to the famously honest and fair president for you. The 16th president of the States, Abraham Lincoln led the country in a time of civil war and advocated for abolitionists and racial equality, a set of ideals that may still inspire in our world today. Abraham is a lovely classic, and this namesake’s last name, Lincoln, makes for a cool, slick, surname-style choice with the preppy nickname Link to top it all off if you’d prefer a more contemporary tie.
Isaac- Sir Isaac Newton, a widely respected, intelligent scientific voice in the 17th century, is the man behind this namesake. A mathematician and scientist given the credit for many of the core principles science leans on today. In fact, he invented calculus! (Although I’m certainly not celebrating...math is definitely out of my area of expertise.) Meanwhile, for the name Isaac, he’s a biblical baby boy name that picked up in use recently and is beginning to dip back down again. Nonetheless, Isaac or Issac is a strong, masculine name with an intelligent and influential figure attached. What better combination could there be?
Neil- Neil Armstrong was the first person to ever walk the moon, landing with very limited fuel and some major complication, yet managing to land calmly and successfully, a feat that changed the world and opened up more opportunities for humans in space. For parents looking for a name with space vibes that isn’t as contemporary, Neil could be it. If you’re willing to go much further than just this Irish name meaning “champion,” Armstrong could make an incredibly bold middle name for your little one, and offer a more direct honor to this inspirational and revolutionary man.
Wolfgang- I’ll be the first to admit that Wolfgang is a tad bit out there. Ok, fine, a lot out there. But just because the little boys in your Wolfgang’s class are Silas and Josh doesn’t mean that Wolfgang won’t blend in somewhat with Bear and Fox, both of which are sizable trends today. As for the namesake, Wolfgang Amadeus (another epic name) Mozart is universally revered as an influential figure. A child prodigy who composed music from the tender age of five, Mozart’s music still lingers today, his starkly different pieces for his time continuing to inspire and delight. He developed an entirely different style from what was commonplace for pianists in that time, setting the stage for future classic composers. Given his impact and talent, many wouldn’t hesitate to agree that Mozart deserves honor. His name bestowed on a child? Well, that’s a bit different, but it’s surely something to consider.
Thank you so very much for clicking, dear readers, and I hope to see you around the Warehouse sometime soon! I hope you enjoyed it, and have a beautiful rest of your day.
Sincerely,
-Delphina Moon
