As you may already know, this year has definitely been a stressful and anxious one for many, and out of respect for the many faced with this pandemic, the Social Security website has postponed the release of the top baby names for 2019, sending the naming world into a rage. Despite how fortunate some of us are to be healthy right now, this news is still very disappointing for those of us who’ve been anxiously awaiting the new data.
Most of the websites that devote themselves to reporting about names have also been eagerly anticipating and predicting the results, and have written articles on the unfortunate delay of these up to date statistics. These articles consist of everything from giving guesses as to what new names may receive their coveted spot in the top ten, to simply reporting the news of the postponement. I thought I would do my own piece on the old 2018 data, as opposed to trying to predict the 2019 data that is sure to arrive shortly. And what better way to do so than to let my readers decide which 6 top ten names I should do a profile on?
In this new readers decide series, you have a say in the profiles I write! Submit through my form underneath the ‘About’ tab your three favorite boys and girls names from the top ten baby names of 2018. I’ll then take the three most requested boys names and the three most requested girls names and do a profile on every single one, including not only my predictions for the name selected, but also my opinions on the name, the origins of the name, and the extent of time the name has claimed a spot in the esteemed top ten.
As we enter yet another week of quarantine, I thought it would be fun to engage my readers in a more interactive series to stifle the repetitiveness of these trying times. So, without further ado, here are the top ten boys and girls names for 2018 in order from most popular to least popular.
Boys: Liam, Noah, William, James, Oliver, Benjamin, Elijah, Lucas, Mason, and Logan.
Girls: Emma, Olivia, Ava, Isabella, Sophia, Charlotte, Mia, Amelia, Harper, and Evelyn.
